Two dives with your own personal guide and your friends!
The tour that ensures you and your buddies won't be split up
Let us take you on an unforgettable adventure diving the most popular site in Iceland and its wilder silbling. And what's better than getting two wonderful dives in with a private guide and just your buddies? This tour is a great option if you want to make sure that you and your friends won't be divided in different groups.
The snorkeling tour in Silfra operated by DIVE.IS is the best tour in Iceland and 10th in the world on the 2024 Best of the Best Traveler's choice awards by Tripadvisor. So you know you are in good hands with us.
We can proudly state that DIVE.IS will offer you the best service level at Silfra. Let us tell you why:
- We built our own changing room so that our guests have the opportunity to dress up inside a heated changing van.
- After diving in the cold water, we warm you up with hot cocoa and cookies.
- Our guides are all experienced PADI divemasters and instructors that have been through professional training before running any of our tours
Silfra is on many divers' bucket list and rightly so. But not as many divers know about Silfra's darker, wilder sibling, the Davíðsgjá fissure. This local diver's favorite is a hidden gem located just a few kilometers from Silfra in Thingvellir National Park. On this Silfra and Davíðsgjá Buddy tour, you will be able to dive them both in one day.
Our Silfra & Davíðsgjá Buddy Tour is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you and your buddies to experience a fascinating underwater world that is unique to Iceland and these dive sites. Plus, booking this tour will ensure you will all be together at all times.
Nowhere else on Earth will you ever find such transparent water and unbelievable colors as you do at Silfra! The glacial water that fills the Silfra fissure has been filtered through underground lava rock for centuries, a process that makes it crystal clear and with 120 meters of visibility.
Davíðsgjá is not as famous as Silfra, but it is a favourite among local divers. At Davíðsgjá you can walk straight into the water from the shore and after a nice shallow swim in water that is usually warmer than Silfra, you will enter the long, deep and narrow fissure. Davíðsgjá often has incredible underwater visibility, although this varies and is more dependent on weather than in Silfra. The top of fissure in Davíðsgjá is actually about 7 meters underwater, which allows for more contact with the water in Þingvallavatn lake. It is therefore common that trout join the divers in exploring this fissure.
This tour is only available on request and it allows you to reserve a guide just for your group of up to 3 people. This will give you a more personalised experience and ensure you and your friends will not be split up in different groups with different guides.
At your arrival at Silfra, you will be welcomed by your guide. Your diving equipment will be ready and your guide will give you a detailed briefing of the dive and of the peculiar Silfra environment.
After making your way to the entry platform (3-minute walk from the meeting point), you will spend about 30 minutes diving through the four parts of Silfra: the Big Crack, the Hall, the Cathedral and the Lagoon. These sections offer different sceneries and rock formations and the full spectrum of Silfra’s colours and clarity become more and more apparent as you proceed through the fissure.
At the end of the tour, you will make your way back to the meeting point, where your guide will help you out of your gear and offer you hot chocolate and cookies to warm up.
Now it will be time to make your way to Davíðsgjá with your guide for your second dive.
The price for this tour is intended for a group of 1 to 3 people.
This is a self-drive tour and we will meet you at the Silfra meeting point Thingvellir National Park. If you need to be picked up in Reykjavik or need a more flexible start time, please let us know in advance so that we can give you a final price, or arrange a fully private tour for you.
After your tour, we suggest you continue on the Golden circle, a very popular sightseeing route in Iceland. Other sightseeing locations on the Golden circle are Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot spring and Kerið crater.
We would also like to draw your attention to our Private Silfra and Davíðsgjá diving combo. This might be a great option for you if you would like to book outside our normal start times.
Perfect view, perfect guide (Konrad) - big recommendation for every dry suit certified diver
Perfect view, like flying through a canyon (if you are careful enough with your fins, you even don't have any disturbance in the water - just like on land). I did the two dive trip (Silfra and Davidsgja) and can highly recommend it. Silfra is a bit more busy, but we were lucky and didn't have to wait at the entry point at all. Allthough there are a lot of snorklers at the site, you don't collide with them, as the number of people allowed simultaneously in the water is restricted.
Our diveguide was Konrad - big thumbs up to the man! Briefing before both dives was spot on and he always had a helping hand for everyone. On the second dive (Davidsgja - much quieter than Silfra, even a bit warmer, same great view) he let us choose out of two spots, which he showed us beforehand and gave us detailed infos about the pros and cons of each spot. He also made really nice photos of the dive and the divers.
As an experienced diver, I wasn't used to this amount of pampering, but with the provided half mittens (thumb and index finger), even adjusting your bcd becomes quite a task ;-)
Would definitedly recommend it to my friends and every diver that isn't afraid of a bit of cold water in the face (rest of the body is cosy warm in drysuit - don't forget thermo underwear as base layer).
As a bonus: we even saw a fish on both dives 😀
